1 tour in Nha Trang · Best time to visit: January to August (dry season)

Nha Trang is a seaside city on Vietnam’s south-central coast, with a long town beach, islands scattered across its bay and Cham temple towers that are still used for worship. Our Nha Trang tours centre on time by the sea, from island boat trips and snorkelling to mud baths, local markets and fresh seafood, and the city also fits well into a longer coastal itinerary.

Why visit Nha Trang

Nha Trang has a long, curving beach running the length of the city centre, backed by a seafront promenade, hotels and cafes. Out in the bay, small islands offer clear water for swimming and snorkelling, and the fishing harbour still supplies the city's many seafood restaurants. It is a good place to add a few days of beach time to a Vietnam trip, with some history and everyday local life close at hand.

Top things to do in Nha Trang

  • Island boat trip: spend a day hopping between islands in Nha Trang Bay, with snorkelling around Hon Mun, part of a protected marine area.
  • Po Nagar Cham Towers: red-brick towers on a hill above the Cai River, built by the Cham people more than a thousand years ago and still visited by worshippers.
  • Mud baths and hot springs: soak in mineral mud and warm pools at one of the spa centres just outside town.
  • Long Son Pagoda: climb the steps behind the pagoda to a large white Buddha statue with views over the city.
  • Markets and seafood: browse Dam Market in the morning, then try grilled seafood and local fish noodle soup in the evening.

Best time to visit

Nha Trang has a longer dry season than much of central Vietnam. From about January to August the weather is usually sunny and the sea calm enough for boat trips, with June to August the hottest period. The rainy season falls around October to December, when heavy showers and rough seas can cancel island trips.

Getting there

Cam Ranh International Airport is about 35 to 45 minutes south of the city by road, with direct flights from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. The north-south railway also stops in Nha Trang, and the train along the coast is a scenic choice for travellers with time to spare.
